Who We Are

Who We Are

This beautiful 400-year-old beamed tavern, with its cosy bar and glowing fires serve traditional heartwarming bar food such as; 12-hour slow roasted shoulder of lamb; and Pan-seared calves liver with classic bubble & squeak, crispy bacon & red wine jus. Good ‘old fashioned’ indulgence is the order of the day in the restaurant, where you’ll find classic English fayre and daily fresh fish specials on the a la carte menu.

“The Thatch”, as it is endearingly known is steeped in local history. Even in the 1700 ‘s, it was a well-known landmark – and it is said that Queen Victoria’s Royal Carriage was sometimes seen outside, while John Brown was fortifying himself inside before his onward journey to Windsor Castle!
